“It may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS,” then–CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves cackled in February 2016, as Donald Trump’s presidential campaign churned forward. “The money’s rolling in and this is fun … It’s a terrible thing to say. But, bring it on, Donald. Go ahead. Keep going.”
Moonves appeared merely ghoulish then. He now looks both ghoulish and wrong. Trump has not been good for CBS, and the steps and statements he’s made since returning to the White House show that his campaign promises to restore and defend free speech were balderdash. His goal is to protect the speech that he likes and suppress what he doesn’t.

Elon Musk’s toxicity among many Europeans is such that even owners of Tesla news websites have ditched Muskmobiles for other EV brands. Jon Gibbs of Birmingham, England, runs what he calls the “world’s biggest Tesla inventory site.” Tesla-info, Gibbs says, stores the “largest database of new and used Tesla motors in the world.” He used to own one himself—but he now drives a BMW iX electric SUV.

In the isolation of a Washington, D.C., office building, with a small team of acolytes, Elon Musk is dismantling the civil service and fulfilling an old dream. Deep within the folds of the Western brain resides a yearning for a savior: a master engineer who imposes reason and efficiency on the messiness of modern life, who can deploy his acumen to usher in a golden age of abundance and harmony. This is a fantasy of submission, where the genius takes charge.
Given American conservatives’ recent rhetoric, their surrender to Musk’s vision of utopia is discordant, to say the least. Ever since the pandemic, the MAGA movement has decried the tyranny of a cabal of self-certain experts, who wield their technical knowledge unaccountably. But even as the right purports to loathe technocracy, it has empowered an engineer to radically remake the American state in the name of efficiency.

Google går Donald Trump till mötes och döper om Mexikanska Golfen till amerikanska Golfen – men bara för amerikanska användare.
Google Maps döper om ”Mexikanska golfen” till ”Gulf of America”, men du kommer inte att se det när du öppnar appen, ännu. I en serie inlägg har nyheter från Google berättat att Maps-appen kommer att rulla ut en uppdatering med namnbytet efter att den amerikanska regeringen har uppdaterat Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), som fungerar som den ”federala och nationella standarden för geografisk nomenklatur.”
Alltså vad saker ska heta, berg, vatten, hav och alltså även en vik som har hetat Mexikanska Golfen sedan mycket lång tid tillbaka.
Google Maps kommer också att ändra namnet på den högsta bergstoppen i Nordamerika från Denali, namnet som den fått av ursprungsbefolkningen i området, till Mount McKinley när GNIS återspeglar dess nya officiella beteckning – även det en eftergift till Donald Trump.

Anthony Scaramucci förutspår hur länge Musk kommer att bli kvar, nära Trump
Anthony Scaramucci, som var Donald Trumps pressekreterare i bara 11 dagar har intervjuats av Poplitico, som återges av Newsweek. Han förutspår att Elon Musk blir kvar i Trumps närhet i max ett år:
”Elon Musk kommer att hålla i ett år. Många av de här killarna kommer att bli blåsta. Han är värd 250, 400 miljarder dollar, och Trump är lite rädd för honom, så, ja, han kommer att hålla längre än andra människor. Men han är redan ute på bete. Han är i Department of Government Efficiency [DOGE], vilket inte finns inte.”
Elon Musk ska redan vara förbrukad efter att ha kritiserat Trumps medarbetare i Vita Huset efter det senaste beslutet rörande AI, uppges det.
