Anti-U.S. shopping apps climb Denmark’s App Store charts – 9to5Mac

In recent days, two apps called NonUSA (UdenUSA) and Made O’Meter have surged in downloads in the Danish App Store, which also serves users in Greenland.

According to Sensor Tower data, NonUSA is currently the most-downloaded app in Denmark, with Made O’Meter ranking fourth. TechCrunch reports that, based on data by Appfigures, “NonUSA became the No. 1 app on Wednesday, after earlier jumping from No. 6 on Tuesday, up from No. 441 on January 9“.

Apple FaceTime Eye Contact feature hit by patent troll in EU court

Apple has been accused of infringing on a European patent covering gaze correction, the feature used to correct a user’s eye line in FaceTime calls.

Apple is frequently the subject of patent infringement lawsuits, often over major technology features such as its continued battle with Masimo over the Apple Watch. However, sometimes it is caught out by attempts to sue over its smallest features.

In a lawsuit that started via a complaint with the Unified Patent Court on December 5, EyesMatch accuses Apple of infringing patent EP2,936,439, reports IP Fray. At the same time, EyesMatch is also taking on Nvidia over the same patent.

Apple’s Magic Keyboards for iPad Air and iPad Pro get firmware updates

While it may not seem like it, the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro and iPad Air does run firmware, and it needs updates from time to time, which Apple has released on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, firmware updates were issued for more recent models of Apple’s Magic Keyboard, intended for use with 11-inch and 13-inch variants of the iPad Pro, and the iPad Air. It’s rare to see firmware updates for these accessories, but they do release from time to time.

Specifically, versions of the Magic Keyboard compatible with iPad Pros running the M4 and M5 received an update with version 1872.544.772, up from the previous 0680.0220.0301. The Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air with M3, meanwhile, can be updated to firmware version 1024.320.771, increasing the version number from 0350.0135.0303.
