Meta’s Threads is finally allowing users to change their default feed in the app, in a move that addresses what has long been one of the most frustrating parts of the service. With the update, users will be able to make the “following” feed or a custom feed the default view in the app rather than Threads’ sometimes chaotic “for you” feed.
Mark Zuckerberg said that Meta would test the feature way back in November, but the company has said little about it since. Now that it’s official, the change could help address criticism that Threads isn’t as useful for following real-time events because it pushes users to the “for you” algorithmic feed, which often surfaces older posts with many replies rather than newer posts from followed accounts.

Anthropic announced this week a major update for Claude, its AI chatbot. The platform can now search for results on the web in real time to provide up-to-date information, making it even more useful for research.
Claude can now search the web in real time
As detailed in a blog post, Claude now has access “to the latest events and information,” which improves the accuracy of tasks that benefit from more recent data. Until now, Claude relied on large language models that were updated from time to time, so the chatbot had no knowledge of recent events.

Apple introduced Apple One in 2020, providing an easy way for avid Apple users to subscribe to multiple services at once, and get a nice bundle discount for doing so. It offers three tiers, and its remained that way since it launched. However, I think Apple would benefit greatly from offering a fourth tier, capturing a key demographic.
Apple One tiers
Currently, Apple One offers three tiers: Individual, Family, and Premier.
Individual comes in at $19.95/month, offering Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, and 50GB of iCloud+ storage. Family comes in at $26.95/month, bumping up your iCloud+ storage to 200GB, and enabling family sharing for all of your services. Last but not least, Premier comes in at $37.95/month, giving users access to Apple Fitness+ and Apple News+, as well as a full 2TB of iCloud+ storage.

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today reiterated that the A20 chip in iPhone 18 models will be manufactured with TSMC’s 2nm process.

Kuo said TSMC’s trial production of 2nm chips has now reached yields well above the 60-70% range. The yield refers to the percentage of functional chips that can be obtained per silicon wafer, which is essentially a large, circular disc of chips.
Kuo first said that the A20 chip would be 2nm around six months ago, and another analyst Jeff Pu said likewise earlier this week.

The thinner casing of the expected iPhone Fold means a smaller battery, but a new leak backs up claims that Apple plans to mitigate this by improving power efficiency.
It’s previously been reported that Apple — and Samsung — are having difficulties making thinner batteries. More recently, leaker ”Mobile Phone Chip Expert” has claimed that Apple is concentrating on extending battery life by improving power efficiency in the iPhone fold’s display.
Now leaker yeux1122 has backed up this report, saying (in translation) that Apple will ”achieve the goal of slimming the battery by improving the Display Driver Integrated Circuit (DDI),” in particular.
The DDI controls operation of the display. If Apple can make that more efficient, it will lower both overall power consumption and heat output.
