Elon Musk meddelar nu att X kommer att öppna upp sin källkod för granskning. Detta beslut innebär att all kod som styr vilka inlägg och annonser som visas för användarna ska bli offentlig inom en vecka. Musk hävdar att syftet är att skapa full transparens kring hur plattformen väljer ut innehåll.
Planen är att uppdatera den offentliga koden var fjärde vecka tillsammans med detaljerade kommentarer från utvecklarna. Denna regelbundna rapportering ska hjälpa utomstående att förstå exakt vilka förändringar som görs i systemet över tid.
Hård press från europeiska myndigheter
Beskedet kommer i en tid när pressen på X ökar från flera håll. Både Frankrike och EU-kommissionen har inlett undersökningar av plattformens rekommendationssystem. Myndigheterna kräver tydligare svar på hur algoritmerna fungerar och vilket ansvar företaget tar för sitt innehåll. EU har dessutom förlängt sina krav på att företaget måste spara och redovisa viss data ända fram till 2026. Granskningen har blivit särskilt intensiv efter flera allvarliga incidenter där företagets AI-tjänst har missbrukats för att skapa olagligt material.
Gamla löften som nu prövas på nytt
Detta är inte första gången som Musk lovar att göra källkoden öppen för alla. Han gjorde liknande utfästelser direkt efter sitt övertagande av plattformen. Under 2023 publicerades visserligen delar av koden på GitHub, men analyserna visade då att många viktiga detaljer saknades. Den tidigare versionen hölls inte heller uppdaterad enligt plan. Det återstår nu att se om det nya löftet om fullständig insyn och månatliga uppdateringar kommer att genomföras i praktiken.

They Are Billions is a post-apocalyptic steampunk real-time strategy survival game. As players attempt to survive the zombie apocalypse, they’ll build and defend colonies to survive against the billions of the infected.

taly’s communications regulator AGCOM imposed a record-breaking €14.2 million fine on Cloudflare after the company failed to implement the required piracy blocking measures. Cloudflare argued that filtering its global 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver would be ”impossible” without hurting overall performance. AGCOM disagreed, noting that Cloudflare is not necessarily a neutral intermediary either.

Technology Secretary Liz Kendall says she would back regulator Ofcom if it blocks UK access to Elon Musk’s social media site X for failing to comply with online safety laws.
Ofcom says it is urgently deciding what to do about X’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok, which digitally undressed people without their consent when tagged beneath images posted on the platform. X has now limited the use of this image function to those who pay a monthly fee.
But Downing Street said the change was ”insulting” to victims of sexual violence.
Musk said on X the UK government ”want any excuse for censorship” as he replied to a post questioning why other AI platforms were not being looked at.
Kendall said: ”Sexually manipulating images of women and children is despicable and abhorrent.

The Movies for Grownups Awards on Saturday night played host to anER reunion, as George Clooney and Noah Wyle reunited (twice) on the awards stage and talked about their longtime friendship.
Both men were winners at the AARP awards show — best actor for Clooney (Jay Kelly) and Wyle for best TV actor (The Pitt).
In presenting to Wyle, Clooney joked that AARP should do a “Sexiest Man Still Alive” issue and declared, “I would nominate Noah Wyle as the first guy.”

Your neighborhood GameStop might be on the chopping block, along with more than 400 other retail locations across the US. As first reported by Polygon, the retailer is pursuing a severe cost-saving measure by closing up several hundred physical locations. According to a blog that keeps track of GameStop closures, there are 410 locations that are confirmed to be closing or are already closed, along with another 11 that are reportedly also on their way, as of January 10.
