Veckans Åsna: Bret Kenwell
Jag har inga problem med användare som håller på sina val, som försvarar dem och som envist håller fast vid att de är de enda rätta valen. Jag har däremot stora problem med professionella skribenter och journalister som blundar för data, data och verkligheten.
Jag har ingen aning om varför Bret Kenwell vrider och vänder på olika data för att försöka skaka fram en alternativ sanning i att Googles Pixel sålde bättre under Black Friday och Cyber Monday när fakta säger emot honom.
Does Pixel beat iPhone? Sort of.
While Alphabet’s (GOOGL) Pixel phone may have seen very impressive activation numbers, the overall volume did not surpass Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 7 volume over the Black Friday to Cyber Monday stretch.
Sålde Pixel bättre än iPhone?

Jag har ingen aning om varför han bygger sitt resonemang på att det skulle vara ett problem för Apple att sälja mer iPhone än Google sålde Pixel under den perioden men det är någonstans där hans krönika landar.
The Google Pixel saw activations climb a whopping 112% compared to the previous four weekends, according to Localytics. Meanwhile, the iPhone 7 saw activation growth of just 13%.
Siffrorna är förvisso korrekta men kom då ihåg att Pixel startade praktiskt från noll medan iPhone funnits ute ett tag.
One could argue the iPhone was introduced earlier this year (September) while the Pixel came out in October.
Jo, man skulle nog utan tvekan kunna argumentera och invända det med tanke på att det är exakt och precist så det förhåller sig.
Does this bode poorly for Apple? Perhaps. Maybe the quarter will still be decent, but will consumers pass on the iPhone 7 in anticipation of the 10-year anniversary iPhone 8 next September? Investors hope that isn’t the case, but the activation numbers don’t look great.

Expanded Federal Hacking Authority Goes Into Effect Despite Last Minute Efforts in Senate
AS OF DECEMBER 1, it is considerably easier for the FBI to hack into computers during investigations.
Thanks to a federal rule change, whoch passed through several judicial panels before being approved by the U.S. Supreme Court in April, FBI employees can now seek warrants from magistrate judges to remotely access computers even when targets might be outside those judges districts, including when the targets location is disguised by anonymity software like Tor. Additionally, FBI employees can now search computers infected by malware that makes them part of a botnet a method used by criminals to disrupt internet service, distribute spam, or spread viruses on a mass scale.
The argument over the modifications, while described by the Department of Justice as simple amendments necessary to facilitate investigations in the modern age, has been contentious.

Nu har Sightings/Nearby justerats
Nu ser det ut som att Sightings/Nearby har justerats en smula och att det nu åter går att se Pokémons som inte är i närheten av ett Pokestop.
När den nya funktionen lanserades så försvann plötsligt alla möjligheter att se Pokémons som inte fanns i närheten av ett Pokestop vilket missgynnar alla de som försöker hitta de digitala monstren i områden där det inte finns några stopp. Sightnings/Nearby visade helt enkelt ingenting.

Nu ser det dessbättre ut som att funktionen justerats och att det nu går att se figurer som inte finns i direkt närhet av ett Pokestop – även om det senare prioriteras.
Det är också uppenbart att Niantic gjort ytterligare en förskjutning i vilka Pokémons som finns var. Mitt inne i centrala Skellefteå, i Stadsparken, dök exempelvis Pinsir upp mycket frekvent under en dryg vecka. Nu är det Venonat som tagit över.

Apple bekräftar bilprojekt indirekt
Apple kan indirekt ha bekräftat sitt bilprojekt i en inlaga till amerikanska the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Apples Steve Kenner, chef för det som kallas Product Integrity, har i en fem sidor lång inlaga argumenterat för att myndigheterna inte ska begränsa möjligheterna att testa självkörande, automatiska bilar.
”The company is investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation. ”
”Executed properly under NHTSA’s guidance, automated vehicles have the potential to greatly enhance the human experience to prevent millions of car crashes and thousands of fatalities each year and to give mobility to those without.””

Även om Apple i klartext inte bekräftar sitt bilprojekt så skriver Apple att det görs stora investeringar i maskininlärning och automatisering.
