Dra nu inte alltför stora växlar på valresultatet inatt (amerikansk tid) men är utgången en försmak av vad som kan komma under mellan-årsvalen nästa år, så finns det alla skäl i världen för Donald Trump och republikanerna att vara oroliga.
Demokraterna tog hem segern i nattens fyra stora val: borgmästarvalet i New York, guvernörsvalen i New Jersey och Virginia samt Proposition 50, Kaliforniens folkomröstning om ny valkretsindelning.
- I New York vann Zohran Mamdani, demokrat och beskriven som socialist, borgmästarvalet.
- I Virginia vann demokraten Abigail Spanberger guvernörsvalet mot Winsome Earle-Sears, republican.
- I New Jersey vann demokraten Mikie Sherrill och besegrade Jack Ciattarelli, som fått stöd av Donald Trump.
Förutom dessa tre val så röstade Kalifornien igenom ett föreslog om att rita om röstdistrikten vilket leder till att delstaten får fem nya delegater i kommande val. Förslaget var ett direkt svar på ett liknade förslag och beslut i delstaten Texas som kommer att ge fem nya delegater i kommande val. Därmed upphävs Texas ”gerrymandering”.
Tre platser
Till detta kan läggas en demokratisk, ny kvinnlig borgmästare i Detroit, Mary Sheffield, och att demokraterna lyckades behålla samtliga tre platser i Pennsylvania, som domare i delstatens högsta domstol. Republikanerna hade siktat på att ta åtminstone av en de tre platserna men demokraternas kandidater vann alla tre platserna. I Virgina så vann demokraten Jay Jones valet till chefsåklagare (delstatens justieminister). Han vann över Jason Miyares, republikan, som stöttats av Donald Trump.
Donald Trump själv sysslade med annat under de här viktiga valen. Han postade bilder på sitt nya badrum och hävdade att intervjun med honom i ”60 Minutes” sågs av flest och fick bäst betyg.

Alongside iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, and macOS Tahoe 26.1, Apple has released new HomePod 26.1 software for the HomePod and the HomePod mini. The updates come almost seven weeks after Apple released the HomePod 26 software.
According to Apple’s release notes, HomePod Software 26.1 includes performance and stability improvements.
HomePod software is installed automatically on the HomePod unless the feature is disabled, but the HomePod can also be manually updated in the Home app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac by tapping on the More button, choosing Home Settings, and then selecting the Software Update option.

Apple today seeded the first betas of upcoming iOS 26.2 and iPadOS 26.2 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming a day after Apple released iOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1.
Registered developers can download the betas from the Settings app on the iPhone or iPad by going to the General section and selecting Software Update.
We don’t yet know what’s included in the new beta software, but given that these updates will be tested over the holiday period, Apple may be planning to focus on bug fixes and performance improvements rather than adding notable new features.

Apple today provided developers with the first betas of upcoming watchOS 26.2, tvOS 26.2, and visionOS 26.2 betas for testing purposes. The software comes a day after Apple launched the 26.1 versions of each platform.
The software updates are available through the Settings app on each device, and because these are developer betas, a free developer account is required.
We don’t know what new features might be added in watchOS 26.2, visionOS 26.2, and tvOS 26.2. Apple doesn’t typically provide release notes for betas, so we might not know what’s new until the software updates see a public launch unless there are outward-facing changes.

A former Navy pilot, first elected to Congress in 2018, will be New Jersey’s next governor.
Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill defeated former Republican Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, according to a race call by The Associated Press, capping a closely-watched gubernatorial election that some polls predicted would be a coin flip.
Sherrill’s victory marks the first time since the 1960s that New Jersey voters have elected a governor from the same party three terms in a row. Her victory is also the second major win for Democrats on Tuesday, following Abigail Spanberger’s win for Virginia governor.
The race was also one of the first statewide votes since President Trump began his second term. Trump endorsed Ciattarelli in May ahead of the Republican primary.
