At Apple’s event yesterday, battery life was one of the big marketing points for the iPhone 17 Pro series. However, it turns out that the best battery life models of the Pro and Pro Max are not actually available to buy worldwide.
In the United States, Apple quotes 30 hours streaming video playback for iPhone 17 Pro and 35 hours for iPhone 17 Pro Max. But in the UK, Europe, and elsewhere, the tech specs list battery life of 28 hours and 33 hours respectively, two hours less than their US model counterparts.
The reason for this is (the lack of) eSIM. New for this year, where eSIM only models are sold, Apple uses the spare internal space to pack in a bigger battery.

The OLED display panels for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro are reportedly set to be produced by Samsung Display; it is believed to be the sole supplier of the new displays.
Panel production will apparently begin in the second quarter of 2026, but some components will start production in the first quarter. Prototypes will start to be made at Samsung’s Gen 8 OLED factory A6 later this year.

In January, Genki made waves at CES 2025 when the company showed off a Switch 2 mockupmonths before Nintendo officially announced the console. That led to some fireworks when Nintendo sued Genki in May over its ”unauthorized” Switch 2 lineup of accessories. Now, the legal battle has ended with a settlement, and Genki will be paying damages to Nintendo.
The settlement between Nintendo and Genki has been filed with the court (via IGN), and notes that there is a judgment against the latter for an unspecified amount of damages, which will be kept confidential between the two parties. Shortly after CES 2025, reports emerged that Nintendo had sent lawyers over to Genki’s booth about the Switch 2 mockup that was on display. However, Genki asserted that it had never signed a nondisclosure agreement with Nintendo, and that it wasn’t bound by any legal document.

Looking back, I don’t know what exactly I was expecting when I opened “Request No. 1,” the PDF file containing the contents of Jeffrey Epstein’s 50th-birthday book. Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend and co-conspirator, created the book in 2003 by soliciting tributes from the financier’s friends and associates. Given the crimes Epstein was convicted of, I steeled myself before scrolling. Somehow, my internet-addled imagination failed me. This book is a nightmare.
