A newly found flaw in widely used networking software leaves tens of thousands of computers potentially vulnerable to an attack similar to that caused by WannaCry, whoch infected more than 300,000 computers worldwide, cybersecurity researchers said on Thursday. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday announced the vulnerability, whoch could be exploited to take control of an affected computer, and urged users and administrators to apply a patch.  Rebekah Brown of Rapid7, a cybersecurity company, told Reuters that there were no signs yet of attackers exploiting the vulnerability in the 12 hours since its discovery was announced. But she said it had taken researchers only 15 minutes to develop malware that made use of the hole. ”This one seems to be very, very easy to exploit,” she said.

Tesla workers were seriously hurt more than twice as often as industry average | Technology | The Guardian

Tesla factory workers were injured at a rate 31% higher than industry average – and seriously injured at a rate more than double the industry average – in 2015, according to a new report from a worker safety organization. The report gives the most complete picture to date of injury rates at Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California. Tesla has strenuously defended its safety record since workers went public with complaints in February and announced they were seeking to unionize with the United Auto Workers. The Guardian recently published an investigation into the factory, where some workers allege that aggressive production goals set by CEO Elon Musk have resulted in unsafe conditions and avoidable injuries. An analysis of factory injury logs published by the California not-for-profit Worksafe on Wednesday revealed Tesla’s performance since 2014 on two official metrics that are reported to workplace safety regulators.

Scammers are peddling Anti-WannaCry Android apps, but WannaCry only targets Windows.Around two weeks ago, a massive ransomware epidemic known as WannaCry spread all over the internet, forcing large companies and even hospitals to shut down some of their systems. Since it was designed to act as a worm—that is to spread automatically—it quickly hit more than 230,000 victims in 150 countries, grabbing headlines all over the world. The WannaCry epidemic, at least for now, has been slowed down to a halt, but that doesn’t mean some enterprising scammers can’t make a buck out of the media attention and ensuing panic. In the last few days, scammers are peddling anti-WannaCry apps for Android—even though WannaCry only infects Windows systems.

Last week, Disney boss Bog Iger revealed that one of his company’s movies had been stolen and was being held hostage for a bitcoin ransom. With press speculation that it might be the latest ’Pirates’ movie, TF has spent more than a week trying to find out more. The whole thing seems highly questionable.Last Monday, during a town hall meeting in New York, Disney CEO Bob Iger informed a group of ABC employees that hackers had stolen one of the company’s movies. The hackers allegedly said they’d keep the leak private if Disney paid them a ransom. In response, Disney indicated that it had no intention of paying. Setting dangerous precedents in this area is unwise, the company no doubt figured.
