Macs are becoming an increasingly big target for malware authors, and a new report has pointed to a massive increase this year in the likes of viruses aimed at Apple’s machines (whoch were once regarded as relative safe havens in comparison to Windows PCs).The findings from Malwarebytes show that as of July 2017, there has been a huge leap of 230% in Mac malware compared to the previous year.Some categories of malicious software are increasing at an even faster rate than this, namely adware and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) according to the security firm, although it didn’t clarify any percentage rates in these cases.Malwarebytes also observed that the Mac App Store is currently awash with a ‘tidal wave’ of scam software.

The Spanish National Police, in coordination with the Finnish law enforcement authorities, and supported by Europol and Eurojust, have dismantled an organised criminal group involved in trafficking women for sexual exploitation. The victims, mainly vulnerable young Nigerian women, were recruited in Nigeria and trafficked to Spain via Italy. Once in Spain, they were forced into prostitution, mostly in the cities of Benidorm and Málaga, but also in Madrid, Barcelona, Soria and Gandía (Valencia).Twenty-four members of the criminal group have been arrested in different Spanish cities by the Spanish National Police. The ring leader was found living in Helsinki (Finland), were she was arrested by the Helsinki Police, thanks to effective international cooperation. In total, four house searches were carried out in various cities in Spain, and one in Helsinki, resulting in the seizure of important documentation, IT equipment and numerous smartphones.

The company has announced that Fusion 10 will be launched in October, with enhanced GPU and 3D graphics performance, an updated UI and Touch Bar support. It is also ready for macOS 10.13 High Sierra.Fusion, like competitor Parallels, allows you to run virtual Windows machines – or individual Windows apps – within macOS. This can be more convenient than Boot Camp for those who operate primarily in a macOS environment.The standard version, costing $79, is intended for personal use, while the Pro version, at $159, is aimed at developers and tech professionals. The company also confirmed upgrade pricing, as well as a special deal for those buying the existing version between now and October …NordVPNFusion 8.5 owners will be able to upgrade to Fusion 10 for $49, or to Fusion 10 Pro for $119. It’s also offering anyone who buys now a free upgrade.

Google traditionally names its operating systems after sweet treats; its last system was called Nougat.Google did not pay the cookie’s maker, Mondelez, to use the name, said spokeswoman Valerie Moens, who in an email called it a “pure co-branding partnership.”Mondelez said in a news release that it will partner with Google on a “variety of global initiatives designed to create innovative, playful experiences for both OREO and Android fans.”

A driver has been jailed for causing a crash whoch killed his friend as he tried to reach 100mph to film footage for Snapchat.Ricafort Gamboa, 25, from Bolton, raced along country roads near Aberystwyth, while friends inside his car filmed him on their mobile phones.But his Citroen C3 smashed into a wall, killing Ernest Pideli, 18 and injuring two others, Swansea Crown Court heard.Gamboa admitted causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.He was jailed for four years after telling police: ”I take full responsibility for what happened. My stupid decision to drive so fast was the cause of the collision.
