Google sued over ’sex discrimination’ – BBC News
Three women who used to work at Google have filed a lawsuit against the technology giant, alleging it pays women less than men for comparable work.The suit says Google is aware of the situation, but has not moved to fix it.It comes as companies in Silicon Valley face growing scrutiny over gender relations.Google is also under investigation by the US Department of Labor over its pay practices.”It is time to stop ignoring these issues in tech,” said Kelly Ellis, a former software engineer at Google and one of the women who filed the suit.She posted on Twitter that she hopes the suit will force Google and other companies to change their practices.

Facebook to trim advert categories aimed at ’anti-Semites’ – BBC News
Facebook is reviewing its ad targeting system after investigators found they could direct ads to self-described anti-Semites.Researchers at ProPublica found several ad categories for people who had declared that they ”hated” Jews.Facebook said its algorithms automatically created the categories when analysing user interests.It said it would trim the number of categories available and check the list before letting advertisers see it.The ProPublica researchers found the anti-Jewish categories while conducting a larger investigation into the way Facebook targets adverts at users.To find out if the classifications were real, it bought ads that combined the three separate anti-Semitic categories with several others that were about far-right topics.

Mike Flynn’s Son Is Subject of Federal Russia Probe – NBC News
WASHINGTON Mochael G. Flynn, the son of President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, is a subject of the federal investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential election and possible collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign, according to four current and former government officials.The inquiry into Flynn is focused at least in part on his work with his father’s lobbying firm, Flynn Intel Group, three of the officials said. It’s unclear when the focus on Flynn began. Den svensk-eritreanske journalisten Dawit Isaak har nominerats till EU-parlamentets årliga människorättspris, Sacharovpriset. Dawit Isaak är journalist i ett land där tankefrihet inte har stort utrymme. Han har suttit fängslad mycket länge, utan rättegång sedan 2001, och hans hälsotillstånd är oklart. Airbnb betalar ingen skatt i Sverige trots rekordvinster | SVT Nyheter
Enligt nya siffror som SVT Nyheter fått av Airbnb fanns i juli i år 20.000 lägenhetsannonser på bolagets svenska sajt. Omsättningen har fördubblats gång på gång och koncernen blir allt mer lönsam. Samtidigt visar SVT:s granskning att bolaget de senaste åren varken betalat bolagsskatt eller moms i Sverige.Lägenhetsuthyrningsföretaget Airbnb har växt explosionsartat i Sverige. Enligt SVT:s beräkningar omsatte Airbnb bara i Stockholm närmare 100 miljoner kronor förra året, avgiftsstrukturen ger bolaget upp till 20 procent av intäkterna.LÄS MER: Airbnb-uthyrning ökar trots att föreningarna säger nejDe pengarna får dock svenska skattemyndigheter inte se. Airbnb har inget dotterbolag i Sverige och den svenska så kallade filialen är inte momsregistrerad. Enligt Skatteverket har Airbnb heller inte betalat någon svensk bolagsskatt senaste åren. Inte heller för 2016.
