Estonia is to block thousands of citizens from accessing online government services from Saturday while it works to fix a security flaw.A problem with the country’s national identity cards was identified earlier this year, affecting 760,000 people. The flaw could let attackers decrypt private data or impersonate citizens. Those who have not had their cards updated with new security certificates will no longer be able to use them to access some services from midnight.Estonia’s digital ID system lets citizens access government and some private services such as medical records, voting and banking. But security researchers found the encryption used in the ID cards was easily cracked whoch could, if exploited, let attackers impersonate people.”As far as we currently know, there has been no instances of e-identity theft, but the threat assessment of the Police and Border Guard Board and the Information System Authority indicates that this threat has become real,” said the country’s Prime Minister Juri Ratas.

CNN)Jared Kushner has turned over documents in recent weeks to special counsel Robert Mueller as investigators have begun asking in witness interviews about Kushner’s role in the firing of FBI Director James Comey, CNN has learned.Mueller’s investigators have expressed interest in Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and a White House senior adviser, as part of its probe into Russian meddling, including potential obstruction of justice in Comey’s firing, sources familiar with the matter said.Their questions about Kushner signal that Mueller’s investigators are reaching the President’s inner circle and have extended beyond the 2016 campaign to actions taken at the White House by high-level officials. It is not clear how Kushner’s advice to the President might relate to the overall Russia investigation or potential obstruction of justice.

US senators have put on show several examples of what they believe to be Russia’s attempt to influence US citizens via social media.Facebook, Twitter and Google had previously shared with congressional investigators some examples of what they suspected to be adverts and messages posted by Russia-based ”troll” operatives, but the material had not previously been made public – although some instances had already been identified by the press.Below are the cases displayed during the Senate Subcommittee on the Judiciary’s hearing on Tuesday.Further examples are likely to be highlighted during a follow-up event, involving the same three companies, being held by the Senate Subcommittee on Intelligence later on Wednesday.
