Zero-Day Alert: Google Releases Chrome Patch for Exploit Used in Russian Espionage Attacks

Google has released out-of-band fixes to address a high-severity security flaw in its Chrome browser for Windows that it said has been exploited in the wild as part of attacks targeting organizations in Russia.

The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2025-2783, has been described as a case of ”incorrect handle provided in unspecified circumstances in Mojo on Windows.” Mojo refers to a collection of runtime libraries that provide a platform-agnostic mechanism for inter-process communication (IPC).

As is customary, Google did not reveal additional technical specifics about the nature of the attacks, the identity of the threat actors behind them, and who may have been targeted. The vulnerability has been plugged in Chrome version 134.0.6998.177/.178 for Windows.

”Google is aware of reports that an exploit for CVE-2025-2783 exists in the wild,” the tech giant acknowledged in a terse advisory.

Facebook and Instagram owner Meta is considering a paid subscription in the UK which would remove adverts from its platforms.

Under the plans, people using the social media sites could be asked to pay for an ad-free experience if they do not want their data to be tracked.

It comes as the company agreed to stop targeting ads at a British woman last week following a protracted legal battle.

Meta already provides ad-free subscriptions for Facebook and Instagram users in the EU, starting from €5.99 (£5) a month.

A spokesperson for the firm said the company was ”exploring the option” of offering a similar service in the UK.

Disney+ adds option to edit ’Continue Watching’ list

Disney is giving Disney+ subscribers the ability to edit their ”Continue Watching” lists, a quality-of-life feature that’s been oddly missing from the streaming service up until now.

Continue Watching collects all of the TV shows, movies and live events you’ve started watching, saving your place so you can pick up right where you left off. If you dip in and out of watching things, it’s very easy for the list to get unwieldy quickly, so being able to edit it is helpful.
