Threads adds a chronological feed as Twitter burns to the ground | Engadget

Threads is about to get vastly more useful as Meta has started rolling out the option to see a chronological feed of posts from the people you follow. Many observers said this was a key feature Threads needed to truly compete with Twitter, long a vital source of real-time information. But as Twitter (sorry, X) owner Elon Musk continues to reduce his app to rubble, Threads is looking like a more viable destination for up-to-the-minute news and updates.

You’ll need to update to the latest version of Threads to see the chronological feed, but it might not appear for you immediately. To switch between the For You and Following feed, tap the Threads logo or the home icon and you can swipe from one to the other.

Kevin Spacey has been cleared of all nine charges of sexual assault against four men in his U.K. criminal trial.

After more than 12 hours of deliberation, the jury at London’s Southwark Crown Court reached the verdict on Wednesday afternoon. The judge, Justice Mark Wall, concluded that the “defendant may be discharged,” ending more than a year since the high-profile trial, the biggest the U.K. has seen that had arisen from the MeToo movement, was called.

Spacey, for whom July 26 also marked his 64th birthday, reportedly wept on hearing the news.

The iPhone 15 lineup may be one of the first smartphones to use a new hybrid camera lens that uses glass and plastic components to capture better photos.

A recent rumor from ”RGcloudS” on Twitter, a prolific leaker for Android technology, is out with another leak of the upcoming iPhone 15 models. They suggest the new devices have a hybrid lens with an f/1.7 aperture.

In the context of smartphone camera lenses, manufacturers sometimes use a combination of glass and plastic elements to achieve desired optical performance while managing costs and weight. The arrangement of these elements can influence various aspects of image quality, such as sharpness, chromatic aberration, and distortion.

The Nintendo Switch is arguably one of the greatest handheld consoles ever launched, and it becomes even more versatile if you’re willing to take the steps to break free from Nintendo’s walled garden and ramp up its clock speeds.

Shortly after the launch of Tears of the Kingdom, Dimitris from Modern Vintage Gamer published a piece chronicling efforts to overclock the Switch in order to squeeze more performance out of the latest Zelda title. A recent video from YouTuber Geekerwan takes things a step further by introducing a different operating system to unlock a whole new realm of games.

Reddit CEO’s insistence that the protests from Reddit would simply “pass” certainly hasn’t come to pass just yet. While increasing pressure from the company against protest mods has resulted in some backing down, many are continuing to engage in malicious compliance, making it clear they’re still protesting.

And, a few days ago, after many threats along those lines, Reddit finally started removing protesting mods.

Three former moderators of r/malefashionadvice tell The Verge that they were removed from the subreddit on Thursday. “We more or less have been expecting the removal for the past few days,” one former mod, who asked to go by “Walker,” says in an email to The Verge. Now, the community’s modlist currently has just one moderator: ModCodeofConduct.
