Epic Games har lämnat in nya krav till domstol där spelutvecklaren kräver att Apple ska ändra sina regler och sina avgifter i App Store. Precis som i fallet med Spotify så vill Epic Games kunna äta kakan, sitta vid sitt cafébordet, dricka ur kaffet, tugga i sig bullen – utan att betala.
Epic Games vill inte betala, inte gå med på Apples regler utan Epic Games vill att Apple ska göra som Epic Games vill:
Apple violates the Injunction in three ways. First, with respect to External Links, Apple has imposed new fees and enacted a slew of new rules that work together to make the links commercially unusable. This new fee and accompanying web of restrictions subverts the purpose of the Injunction, allowing Apple to continue extracting its excessive commissions and making it effectively impossible for a developer to inform users about, and direct users toward, an alternative platform for making a purchase.
Second, Apple continues to categorically prohibit any steering using ”buttons” or ”other calls to action”. Specifically, Apple does not allow External Links that resemble a ”button” in any way.
Third, Apple’s Guideline 3.1.3 still prohibits certain apps, including all multiplatform services (i.e., apps that operate across multiple platforms and allow users to access the same content across these platforms, including popular games such as Minecraft), from ”within the app, encourag[ing] users to use a purchasing method other than in-app purchase”. This language expressly contravenes the Injunction by prohibiting any steering to alternative purchasing methods.

Apple å sin sida anser, inte helt förvånande, att de har uppfyllt alla villkor i en tidigare dom – i tvisten mellan Apple och Epic Games där den senare förlorade med 9-1. Epic vann på en punkt – Apple måste tillåta länkar i App Store till alternativa betalningar. I Epic Games tolkning så innebär det att Epic Games eller andra som distribuerar sina appar via Apples plattform ska slippa att betala för det.
Det är på det hela taget samma kritik och samma argumentation som Spotify för fram mot Apple och noterbart är att varken Spotify eller Epic Games säger vad som anses vara skäligt att betala eller om de ens anser att de ska betala något för att de använder Apples plattform och tjänster – de tycker bara att Apple tar för mycket betalt.
Så nu skäller Tim Sweeney på Apple, igen, för att Epic Games måste betala för Apples tjänster.
