Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin were on Tuesday part of a number of wealthy individuals indicted by the U.S. government in what essentially amounted to a pay-to-play scheme for getting their children into elite colleges.

Parents would pay a fixer who would help secure admission to universities, sometimes under the guise of falsely portraying them as student-athletes, or helping to massage their applications and test scores. The money given was directed through a fake charity, so that wealthy individuals could write off securing their children’s place in college.
