In cooperation with Interpol, Group-IB, a Moscow-based cyber-security firm, has tracked down and revealed the real-world identities of five members of the United Islamic Cyber Force (UICF).The UICF is a loosely managed hacker group specialized in website defacements and DDoS attacks on the back of politically charged topics, and usually with a pro-ISIS theme.The group has been active since January 2014 and has had over 40 members during its lifetime. UICF’s most infamous hacks are the defacement of the TV5Monde, Bloc Québécois, and Notepad++ websites in January 2015, following the Charlie Hebdo attacks. UICF hacktivists took over the sites and posted pro-ISIS messages in support of the Charlie Hebdo terrorists and their respective cause.
