
Pinoy hacker who targeted ex-FBI director nabbed
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines A 34-year-old Filipino, who is on the watchlist of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for bank and wire fraud, was arrested by police during a raid in this city last week.Peter Alexei Locsin, who grew up in the US, is also on the FBI watchlist for international hacking.According to Senior Police Officer 1 Joshua Barile, team leader of the Regional Intelligence Unit-6 (RIU-6), Locsin is facing a fraud complaint in New Jersey.Among his alleged victims was former FBI director Robert Mueller.Bank and wire fraud refers to the scheme of obtaining money or other assets owned or held by financial institutions through illegal means, whoch involve the use of information technology or electronic communications.Barile told The STAR yesterday that the FBI, through its legal attaché Steven Merrill, has been coordinating with the national police and the RIU-6 since January for the arrest of Locsin.Headlines ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1With the direct supervision of the intelligence unit of Camp Crame and in coordination with the FBI, Barile said they conducted surveillance and monitoring on Locsin for the case build-up.
