LONDON (Reuters) – Parents who think they are being responsible by limiting their children’s time online should think again: they could be putting their kids and Britain’s security at a disadvantage, according to a former British spy chief.”If you appear to be spending your holiday unsuccessfully attempting to separate your children from Wi-Fi or their digital devices, do not despair,” Robert Hannigan, a former director of the Government Communications Headquarters, wrote in the British newspaper The Telegraph.”Your poor parenting may be helping them and saving the country.”

@Home är en app för att slå av skärmsläckare och hålla liv i din Mac så länge som du är hemma.

Gratis idag 8/8.

@home is a small status bar utility that keeps your portable Mac unlocked when you are at home, by disabling sleep mode and screensaver.

It does this by checking your wireless connection: when it detects your home wireless it assumes you are in your house where you don’t need the screensaver or energy save settings to kick in. Optionally, @home will be enabled only when you are connected to power, in order to prevent draining your battery.

When you roam out of your home, the screensaver and energy settings from System Preferences are again respected and will lock/sleep your Mac as defined after some time of inactivity.

While there are other apps that provide similar functionality, they mostly rely on you setting some time-out or manually activating the apps. @home does away with that manual work and allows you to have it running constantly without worrying anymore about it.

Supports Dark Mode and Retina displays.

Note: closing the lid of your laptop or manually putting the computer into sleep are still supported, even when you are running @home.

Please rate the app if you like it. Thank you!
Drop me an e-mail for feedback (see my webpage). Highly appreciated.

What’s New

– Option to activate @home only when plugged in
– Nicer icons, now supporting Retina displays

Please rate the app if you like it. Thank you!

The Center for Democracy & Technology asks the Federal Trade Commission (Commission) to investigate the data security and data sharing practices of Hotspot Shield Free Virtual Private Network (VPN) services, a product of AnchorFree, Inc. Hotspot Shield Free VPN promises secure, private, and anonymous access to the internet. This complaint concerns undisclosed and unclear data sharing and traffic redirection occurring in Hotspot Shield Free VPN that should be considered unfair and deceptive trade practices under Section 5 of the FTC Act.
