Google’s European chief has publicly apologised after online adverts for major brands appeared next to extremist material, but declined to say whether the company would begin actively seeking out such content and taking action against it.

Matt Brittin, Google’s head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, told the Advertising Week Europe conference in London on Monday: “I want to start by saying sorry to the brands affected by this. I take the issue very seriously and I apologise in the instances where that may have happened.”

But his response was deemed inadequate by Yvette Cooper, Labour MP and home affairs select committee chair, who said the company was “failing to do enough” to weed out extremist content.

Brittin told an audience of advertising industry figures that the company would improve its ad placement system, which has seen ads attached to videos by extremists, including hate preachers and the former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

YouTube has responded to accusations of discrimination from high-profile members of its LGBT community, who have reported their videos being hidden by the platform.

#YouTubeIsOverParty was trending on Twitter on Sunday after several users flagged that their videos referencing same-sex relationships or attraction had been filtered out under its restricted mode.

Rowan Ellis, a British YouTuber with a “feminist and queer perspective” and nearly 22,500 subscribers, drew attention to YouTube’s apparent “anti-LGBT” bias in a video posted on Thursday.

Apple släpper den åttonde betaversionen av macOS 10.12.4

Apple har släppt en åttonde testversion av macOS 10.12.4 och även en åttonde testversion av watchOS 3.2.

I princip är informationen densamma som för flera versioner bakåt.

watchOS

watchOS 3.2 brings a new Theater Mode, SiriKit, and other improvements.

Theater Mode
Introduced in watchOS 3.2, Theater Mode lets users quickly mute the sound on their Apple Watch and avoid waking the screen on wrist raise. Users still receive notifications (including haptics) while in Theater Mode, which they can view by tapping the screen or pressing the Digital Crown.

SiriKit
watchOS 3.2 includes SiriKit. Users can ask Siri on their Apple Watch to book a ride, send a message, make a payment, or make other requests that your app can handle.

Apps that provide services in specific domains can use SiriKit to make those services available through Siri on watchOS. Making your services available requires creating one or more app extensions using the Intents and Intents UI frameworks. SiriKit in watchOS supports services in the following domains: Messaging, Payments, Ride booking, Workouts, Calling, and Searching photos

macOS

The macOS Sierra 10.12.4 update improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac.

Focus Areas
Please focus testing on the following areas:
• Night Shift preference for automatically shifting the colors of your display to the warmer end of the spectrum after dark
• Siri support for checking Cricket scores, schedules, and player rosters from the Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council
• Dictation support for Shanghainese
• Reading, writing and navigating PDFs using system-provided APIs
