Typo blamed for Amazon’s internet-crippling outage | Technology | The Guardian
Amazon has blamed the outage of its S3 web service, whoch took down many different sites, services and devices across the internet, on a typo.
The failure of a critical section of Amazon Web Services (AWS) called S3 (Simple Storage Solution) on Tuesday, led to sites such as Business Insider and Medium failing, while some people found they could not turn on their internet-connected lightbulbs because automation service Ifttt was knocked offline.
Amazon said that at the time of the outage one of its engineers was attempting to diagnose why its billing service for S3 was running slowly. The engineer attempted to take a small subset of the servers for one of S3s subsystems involved in billing offline for inspection, executing a command from Amazons established playbook.

Ny utbildning i programmering i Umeå | SVT Nyheter
I samband med att skolan på Fridhem öppnar efter renoveringar igen, kommer en ny teknisk utbildning inom dataprogrammering erbjudas eleverna.Programmering har de senaste åren blivit hett på arbetsmarknaden. Mjukvaruprogram som programmerarna skapar, är eftertraktade. Det här har fått gymnasie- och vuxenutbildningsnämnden i Umeå kommun att fatta beslut om att starta en helt ny inriktning mot programmering inom teknikprogrammet på gymnasiet.
Det här är ett hål i vår kompetensförsörjning. Det produceras fruktansvärda mängder mjukvara idag och behovet på arbetsmarknaden är stort, säger Peter Vigren (S), ordförande i gymnasie- och vuxenutbildningsnämnden.

Polisen startar aktion mot barnporr | SVT Nyheter
Polisen i 15 europeiska länder går samman för att förebygga barnporr på nätet. Den som tror att de laddar hem barnporr kan i stället få se en film med en polis som berättar om brottet.Ned- och uppladdningen av barnpornografiskt material på så kallade peer to peer-nätverk på nätet där vem som helst kan dela och ta del av filer är omfattande, uppger polisen. I en kartläggning över tre dygn var 2.000 svenskar aktiva på nätverken och erbjöd filmer på sexuella övergrepp på barn till andra. Från och med i dag startar Europol ett samarbete mellan 15 europeiska länder för att förebygga barnpornografi på nätet. Aktionen, som leds av norsk polis, går ut på att polisen själva laddar upp filmer på peer to peer-nätverk där pedofiler är aktiva. Den som försöker ladda ned filer med barnporr kan i stället få se en film där en uniformerad polis berättar om det olagliga i att ta del av barnporr.
