U.S. top court to hear Apple-Samsung feud over iPhone designs
After five years of litigation, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on Tuesday in the bitter patent dispute between the world’s two top smartphone manufacturers over the amount Samsung (005930.KS) should pay Apple (AAPL.O) for copying the iPhone’s distinctive look. The justices’ ruling, due by the end of June, could have a long-term impact for designers and product manufacturers going forward because the Supreme Court, if it agrees with Samsung, could limit the penalties for swiping a patented design.Samsung Electronics Co Ltd paid Apple Inc $548.2 million last December, fulfilling part of its liability stemming from a 2012 verdict for infringing Apple’s iPhone patents and copying its look. But Samsung will argue before the Supreme Court that it should not have had to make as much as $399 million of that payout for infringement of three patented designs on the iPhone’s rounded-corner front face, its bezel and the colorful grid of icons that represent programs and applications. It will be the Supreme Court’s first case involving design patents in more than 120 years, when the products at issue were carpets and rugs.

Samsung is sending incomprehensible emails to Note 7 owners looking for a refund
Samsung is reportedly halting production of the Galaxy Note 7 after several more phones set themselves on fire over the weekend phones that were themselves recall replacements for the original batch of defective phones. Its safe to say that the entire situation is a disaster; as The Verges Jordan Golson says, the Note 7 is “a fundamentally defective product and it should be pulled from the market without delay.”And its carriers that have had to step up and handle the Note 7 issue Samsung itself has been alarmingly quiet about the issue, and it hasnt made the process or scope of the actual issue terribly clear to customers at all. Just look at this email exchange, sent to The Verge by a senior executive at a large tech company trying to replace his Note 7:

Apple Watch förbjuds i det brittiska kabinettet
Apple Watch får inte bäras under möten med den brittiska regeringen av rädsla att enheterna ska kunna hackas av ryska hackare, skriver The Telegraph.
– Ryssarna försöker att hacka allt, säger en anonym källa till tidningen.
Ministers have been barred from wearing Apple Watches during Cabinet meetings amid concerns that they could be hacked by Russian spies, The Telegraph has learned.
Under David Cameron, several cabinet ministers wore the smart watches, including Mochael Gove, the former Justice Secretary.
However, under Theresa May ministers have been barred from wearing them amid concerns that they could be used by hackers as listening devices.
Mobile phones have already been barred from the Cabinet because of similar concerns.
One source said: “The Russians are trying to hack everything.”

Rädsla
Då mobiltelefoner förbjudits under mötena sedan tidigare, alla mobiltelefoner, så handlar detta förmodligen om ut utslag av rädsla för att bli avlyssnad än om något annat.
