European mobile payment providers iZettle and SumUp are among a handful of start-ups that have encouraged European small businesses to kick their cash-only habits. Now, their strategy is to lower fees as they brace for a more formidable challenge: the onslaught of mature North American payment providers onto their home territory. San Francisco-based Square – headed by Twitter chief Jack Dorsey – is among the new entrants.SumUp Chief Executive Daniel Klein told Reuters that his company, whoch is funded partly by e-commerce giant Groupon, is prepared to cut the fees it charges merchants in order to take advantage of a growing market and stay competitive.Klein did not specify how much lower SumUp could go. But there is room for maneuver, because, for the first time in August, the five-year-old SumUp made a profit and expects to be profitable for the full year, he said.SumUp, whoch in Europe operates in 14 countries, currently charges 1.95 percent, 1.75 and 1.45 percent in Britain and France and Poland, respectively. That compares to a 2.4 percent average that Juniper Research estimates such global mobile payment providers charge merchants.

Sony Bravia TVs to lose YouTube access

Sony Bravia smart TV sets made in 2012 will no longer be able to show YouTube videos after 30 September. The devices will not be capable of displaying videos from the site thanks to changes made by YouTube to the way it handles uploads. As a result, the app for YouTube will be removed from Bravia TVs by the end of this month, Sony said.Sony has released a list of the 50 models across the range of TV sets that will be affected by the change.Computer crunchIn a statement posted to its customer support site, Sony said the television sets were not losing access because of a “failure” of the set.Instead, it said, recent changes made to YouTube “exceed the capability of the TV’s hardware”.This is believed to refer to Google’s recent decision to start encrypting all connections to its video-sharing site. Encrypting and decrypting data can be a computationally intensive task that the processors in Bravia sets that handle net-connected functions cannot cope with.

Directed by Oliver Astrologo & Nils Astrologo – fb.com/oliver.astrologo
Much has been made about the wonders of Venice, but few ever venture deep enough across its less touristy, yet still historical hidden places. Beyond hundreds of canals and a diverse architectural style, a secret facet of Venetian life lives on, in whoch the journey of hand crafting gondola wooden oars and loomed fabrics remains rooted in ancient folk traditions.
This short film uncovers the secrets that have been handed down from father to son and projects you to the Venice that existed 500 years ago, immersing you in the extraordinary craftsmen’s veiled workshops that belong to a long lost era.
This project has been produced in partnership with René Caovilla, the master Venetian shoemaker who has overwhelmed the world with his creations.

Det är “same procedure as every year James”

One more thing
