Despite having been the chief executive of Google for 10 years where he oversaw the launch of Android, and now the executive chairman of Googles holding company Alphabet, Eric Schmidt uses an iPhone.
Schmidt revealed at Startup Europe Fest in Amsterdam, where he shared the stage with Apples chief executive Tim Cook, that he was an iPhone user, much to the audiences amusement.
Schmidt tried to save the day saying that he also has a Samsung Galaxy smartphone again not a phone made by Google, but at least its an Android device: The Samsung is better, has a better battery. Are we clear? And to those of you who are iPhone users, Im right!
When an audience show of hands revealed more people had an iPhone than an Android, Schmidt said pointedly: So much for the Android monopoly in Europe.

De som klagar på ofrivilliga Windows 10-uppgraderingar har en poäng. I minst två månader har Microsoft tagit till fula knep.Åtminstone sedan slutet av mars i år har Microsoft mer eller mindre lurat på användare Windows 10.Det handlar om en dialogruta i Windows 7 och 8.1 som uppmanar användaren att schemalägga en uppgradering och som gör det självmant om man stänger ned den.Computerworld har gått igenom cachade versioner av Microsofts supportsida och upptäckt att företagets nya policy fanns med redan i slutet av mars månad. Några äldre versioner har inte hittats, så förändringarna kan mycket väl funnits med ännu längre.

Apple bygger ut Siri
Apples digitala assistent Siri kommer att byggas med ett API för utvecklare och med funktioner som är mycket lika Amazons Echo där en användare kan ge kommandon via en mikrofon och högtalare. En slags central enhet för att slå på och av saker, hämta information och annat.
I samband med WWDC senare i sommar så uppges det att Apple kommer att presentera ett utvecklingspaket, SDK och API, för Siri vilket gör det möjligt för utvecklare att använda Siri i sina egna appar och lösningar.
Apple is upping its game in the field of intelligent assistants. After years of internal debate and discussion about how to do so, the company is preparing to open up Siri to apps made by others. And it is working on an Amazon Echo-like device with a speaker and microphone that people can use to turn on music, get news headlines or set a timer.
Opening up its Siri voice assistant to outside app developers is the more immediate step. Apple is preparing to release a software developer kit, or SDK, for app developers who want their apps to be accessible through Siri, according to a person with direct knowledge of the effort.
